I told mum that I stopped caring so much about what other people thought of the way I dressed, when I could never figure out how to do it 'right'. My hair never lay flat, any shirt I didn't tuck in would eventually bring on an asthma attack, nothing matched and anything that looked fashionable was uncomfortable.
On one hand, I still occasionally have girls (and it has always been girls) say really rude things about what I'm wearing. On the other, it's sort of a blessing in disguise, that I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't so I chose which made me happier.
